수년 전에 유튜브에서 헤비메탈 뮤지션 리스트를 초보자가 알기쉽게 뒷이야기, 유머등을 섞어 재밌게 정리한 동영상을 봤었는데, 보면서 리스트만 메모한 것. 10년 가까이 됐으니까 지금은 또 많이 다를듯.
각 뮤지션별 곡은 대표곡은 아니고 개인적으로 좋아하는 곡. 헤비메탈 역사상 중요한 위치를 차지하고 있어도 크게 관심없는 그룹의 곡은 생략.

1968년 영국 버밍햄에서 보컬 오지 오스본이 새로운 밴드 멤버 모집 신문 광고를 하면서 결성.
데뷔앨범(Black Sabbath) 동년 1970년에 발표한 두번 째 앨범(Paranoid)이 힛트, 전영 앨범차트 1위.
2000년(Iron Man), 2014년(God Is Dead?) 그래미상 수상. 2006년 「록의 전당(The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum)」 등록 선정.
2017년 최초 결성지 버밍햄에서 마지막 라이브.
